Florida Runners to Offer Scholarship Money to College-Bound Seniors

FLRUNNERS.COM PRESS RELEASE

ORLANDO – After much deliberation, the staff of the Fourth Annual flrunners.com has come to a conclusion regarding admission being charged at the highly popular and ultra-competitive meet.

For the first time in meet history, an admission price of $3 will be charged, but there is a catch.

While half of the money collected will go towards paying for the site's costs and server fees, the other 50% will go towards a scholarship for at least one graduating senior this season.

The number of scholarships given out will depend on the total money collected, but the staff's goal is to hand out two scholarships of equal amounts to a boy and girl runner of the Class of 2004.

The scholarships (which we project will be between $750 and $1,250 each) will be decided shortly after the state track championships in Gainesville. A board compiled of coaches, staff members, and respected figures in the running community will vote to decide the scholarship after all applications have been received.

The application will center around the athlete's GPA (minimum unweighted 3.0), standardized testing, and – most importantly – a letter of recommendation for his/her coach or teacher.

One requirement will be that the athlete MUST be running at the collegiate level.
