Hey Flrunners! I hope everyone has been doing great and running hard. There's been so many meets, with everyone running counties and districts. The weather has been getting a little cooler in the mornings and the nights. The excitement for regionals and states is building up. Everything about this time is just screaming cross country. Let me give you a little insight on how my county and district meets went!
My team and I raced the Broward County Athletic Association County Championship on Friday, October 18th. It was blazing that day. The sun was shining and stayed that way for all of the races. My goal for the meet was to win the meet as a team and to try to win it individually. I just tried to pace myself and to achieve my goals. Even though I didn't get my fastest time, I was still happy with winning the meet individually and as a team! Both the STA junior varsity and varsity boys and girls teams won the meet; way to run hard everyone. Special congratulations to fellow Raiders Alexandra Oswald for winning the JV girls race, Gabriel Darosa for winning the JV boys race, and Manny Velasquez for winning the varsity boys race.
The next week, we raced our district meet on Wednesday, October 23rd. Unlike our extremely hot county meet last week, the District meet was wet and rainy. That's Florida weather for you. I personally love to run in the rain and thought that this weather was great. The STA Varsity voys and girls won the district meet. Both the girls and boys finished the meet with a perfect score of 15. Our team goal was to go out there and win the meet. I was really happy with the way the girls performed. The boys did a great job too!
It's crunch time now, with the regional and state meet approaching. Everyone's getting pumped and motivated. All the workouts and runs we do are more important than ever! The whole team is just trying to work hard and stay tough. We're all trying to stay focused to achieve our main goal of winning states. Keep running hard, staying positive, and having fun! Good Luck to everyone their upcoming meets!
Happy Running!
