Florida Speedsters Listed As Top Junior Candidates For 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships

We've seen Florida sprinters at the state level, the national level, but our friends at NSSF take a look at perspective runners for the IAAF World Junior Championships and a slew hail from the Sunshine state. The list includes high school athletes as well as current college freshman. See the top ten athletes in each event that have met the qualifiying standards for the meet which will take place at the end of July at historic Hayward Field at the University of Oregon.

* Note: Qualifiying times to be considered listed at the top. ( ) next to name denote rank in overall list which is linked at the bottom of the article. Also included, where they set that mark.

East Ridge sophomore sensation Kaylin Whitney is the highest Floridian in both the 100 meter (8th) and 200 meter dash (4th). Whitney will battle Sparling and Spaulding at the 4A State Championships in May and could be teammates shortly thereafter. Whitney broke some of Sanya Richards Ross' age group records as an 8th grader and could be one of the top sprinters the state has seen by the time her high school career is over.
