Great American Interviews

Jenny Barringer (Oviedo), placed 2nd overall in the Seeded Invitational right behind one of the nations best, Smokey Hill's, Katelyn Kaltenbach.

Matt Baum (flrunners.com)- Laura Bowerman didn't show up today. I bet that was a surprise.

Jenny Barringer- Well, the whole race I was looking for her. And I was thinking to myself, "OK, OK...lets go! Where is she?". I was just thinking that she was back somewhere, but no, if Bowerman was here, she would be right up here with me. My guess she is probably sick or something, because I'm sure it's a big race to her...it's a big race to me. I'm just really sad that she wasn't here today. I think Florida would have showed this meet up today.

MB: How'd the race go between you and Katelyn Kaltenbach?

JB: We came up the really long hill and I heard a ton of people cheering for me and I picked up a little bit thinking, "it's a huge hill and I have to win it here". But, I broke away a little bit, came all the way up and then down the downhill and I was in front by just a little bit. Then she caught me at the top of the hill. Then we raced head to head up on the inside. She broke away from me with about 150 meters to go. I closed on her, but I couldn't beat her.

MB: What'd you think of the new course?

JB: The course was gorgeous! It was great. It was really hilly and I'm not used to that. The mud was a little rough in the woods, but other than that, great job to everyone setting it up. It was very clear and obvious where we had to go.

MB: How'd your team do today?

JB: The team did very well today. A lot of girls came out here not knowing what to expect, but they go out here and saw the course and just fell in love with it. I'm really proud of how they all did today.
