Great American Interviews

Lief Thomason (Satellite), placed 3rd right behind Lyman's Bryan Christian in the Boys "Red" Race with a solid time of 16:30.31.

Matt Baum (flrunners.com)- You and Bryan Christian were battling it out there in the end.

Lief Thomason- Yeah, it was crazy! I know Bryan from track and he has a crazy kick. I figured he was pretty tired at the end, so I tried coming up on him, but he still held strong. I thought I had him then.

MB: Did you and Bryan run together the whole race?

LT: Pretty much. He jumped out pretty fast. I caught up to him just about at the mile when we got to the major hill. But yeah, just off and on.

MB: I heard you took the lead for a little while.

LT: Yeah, I took it in the woods for about 400-600 meters, but once I got to the hill that one guy caught me.

MB: What'd you think of the course?

LT: It was an awesome course. Really tough though.

MB: Is your training going well?

LT: Yeah, it's going great now. Except for this week I got sick. Sunday I did a tempo run and I was hacking and coughing, so I didn't get too much done this week, but other than that, it's going well.

MB: Your team has been pulling it together slowly since the UF Invite.

LT: Yeah, I'm so stoked. That's a major focus with us. We try to run together in practices and pack up and just do the best we can to stay together and visualize the race.
