Whitney Named To Team USA 4x1 Relay That Will Take On World At Penn Relays

The last time 17 year old Kaylin Whitney dawned the red, white and blue, she was winning gold at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Eugene, Oregon as a sophomore in high school. Whitney, who anchored Team USA to the 4x100m relay championship, will get another shot to anchor Team USA to gold, but this time as a professional athlete. The Nike star anchored all-star relays at Texas Relays and Florida Relays, and will take on the world at Penn Relays. Joining her will be Miki Barber, Mishavet Hooker, Candyce McGrone, and Jessica Young. The group will also be available for the 4x200m relay. See what Whitney had to say after the Florida Relays about the possibility of anchoring Team USA in future meets.

Whitney won't be the only one with Florida ties running for Team USA. Star Athletics training partner, Florida native, and Olympian Justin Gatlin will run the 4x100 and is likely to run in the 4x200m relay as well. Gatlin anchored the winning 4x100 and 4x200m relay teams at Florida Relays and recently ran a wind-aided WL 20.10 at the University of Tampa in his 200m season opener.

Clayton Parros who also trains in Clermont at Lake Minneola High School with Derrick White and the Life Speed Athletics group will be part of the 4x400m quartet. Former Altamonte Springs resident DeeDee Trotter who now trains in Los Angeles, will compete on the women's 4x400m relay.

Penn Relays action will be live streamed on Flotrack all weekend! So don't miss a minute of the action!
