Brooks PR Spotlight: Antwuan Musgrove

Antwuan Musgrove a Baylor University signee and 2A 110m hurdle state champion will go head to head with fellow South Florida hurdler Damion Thomas as well as some of the nation's best at the 2015 Brooks PR Invitational.

When did you first learned that you were invited to the Brooks PR Invite and how did your react?

I learned of this about two weeks ago, I actually was on the phone with a friend when I checked my email and they heard me shout out about it. Then I went to my mom room and told her.

What does it mean to you to be invited to the Brooks PR Invitational?

It's a bittersweet feeling. I feel honored to be considered one of the top hurdlers in the nation and to actually have a class of elite hurdlers to race against and push me to do something amazing is an even bigger bonus added to being invited.

What do you hope to achieve at the meet?

I have a goal I been trying to reach in the 110 hurdles so I'm hoping this meet I achieve that. I have been working hard in practice and doing the little things to help with this process. I'll definitely be going for the win, but if I hit my PR or surpass it that will be my biggest accomplishment.

What music do you listen to before races?

Rich homie Quan, Meek Mill, etc. I'm a all around type of guy when it comes to music if it pumps me up am cool with it. Sometimes I even listen to motivational speeches.

If you were stranded on an island with three things what would they be?

Five guys, a movie theater, and a tooth brush.

What would you consider as your best or most favorite race of all-time and why?

I would consider my 110 hurdle race at Texas Relays to be my favorite race of all time. The amount of quality competition I had there in that one race was overwhelming. The commentator called it out before the race stating "This might be one of the fastest high school hurdle races in the country" and it actually was with seven runners going under 14 flat.

What are some things un-running related people might not know about you?

I laugh a lot. I will literally find something to laugh about, sometimes even in the worst situations. If I'm not practicing or chilling with friends, I'm most likely sleeping. I also make the best pancakes. IHOP has nothing on me.

How and why did you get involved in the sport?

I started running track my 8th grade year, but my middle school wasn't serious about track it was all fun and games then. When I actually attended Hallandale kept up with the sport where I fell in love with it after my 1st real track meet which was Louie Bing.

How has your training been leading up to the meet?

I have been working on my technique and I have been doing more speed training to help with my foot speed between the hurdles. I don't do much over 250 because at Brooks PR I only have one race to prepare for much has been open 150's and 50's up tempo.

What are you most looking forward about your trip, race and weekend at the Brooks PR Invitational in Seattle?

I want to experience the west coast and have something to compare between the east and west side of the United States. Not only that, but meet new athletes that I'll be competing against at Brooks PR Invitational and at the next level. I am mainly looking for a PR in my 110 hurdle race.
