West Broward senior and University of Miami signee Isaiah Taylor is making his first trip to the Brooks PR Invitational. Taylor, the 4A state champion in the 100 meters owns a personal best of 10.48s and has been focusing on strength training leading up to this event.
When did you first learn that you were invited to the Brooks PR Invite and how did your react?
I first learned I was selected for the Brooks PR Invite at my track banquet for the celebration of the season with the team. I was shocked to see that I was selected.
What does it mean to you to be invited to the Brooks PR Invitational?
It means that I am considered to be among the top in the nation in sprinter and track and field.
What do you hope to achieve at the meet?
Hopefully a new PR somewhere in the 10.3s
What music do you listen to before races?
All types normally. I put my pandora on shuffle and just zone out
If you were stranded on an island with three things what would they be?
I would take a bible, food, and a flare gun.
What would you consider as your best or most favorite race of all-time and why?
My favorite race was the state meet. That was the race I always wanted to win
What are some things un-running related people might not know about you?
I am a complete gear head. I love working on cars and upgrading my own.
How and why did you get involved in the sport?
I was always fast as little kid and my mother signed me up for Optimus track after I ran during middle school and showed a little promise.
How has your training been leading up to the meet?
My training has been almost the same as before except I focused more on some strength training.
What are you most looking forward about your trip, race and weekend at the Brooks PR Invitational in Seattle?
I am looking forward to the experience and hanging out with everyone and making new friends with other star athletes.
