Salute To Seniors: Suzanne Dannheim - The Bolles School

Today, we salute Bolles senior Suzanne Dannheim. Dannheim has been a mainstay on the Bulldogs string of cross country state championships as well as their success on the track. She will continue her running career at George Washington University in the fall. Best of luck to Suzanne at the next level and congratulations on all her accomplishments over the last four years.

Flrunners.com: What was your most memorable race?

Suzanne Dannheim: The 2015. 2A Cross Country State Finals. It was my last cross country race of high school!

FLR: You've been a key part of some very successful Bolles teams. What has been your greatest accomplishment over the last four years?

SD: There are too many great accomplishments! The greatest, I would say was either sticking with the cross country/track program before I could see what it really had to offer. If I hadn't, who knows where I would be. Winning six state championships overall and signing to run at the college of my dreams were also great accomplishments.

FLR: If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

SD: If I could change anything about my running career what would would make it longer! With the team, coaches, success, and future of running that I've been so lucky to have, there's nothing I would change.

FLR: What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

SD: Obstacles I've had to overcome: Transitioning from each year to the next. Saying goodbye to each year's seniors is always hard, especially when that means that each year I have to step it up and do my best to fill in for those teammates. And, of course, the Florida heat and hard training!

FLR: What will you miss the most?

SD: Out of everything, I'll miss the bonds I've made with my coaches and teammates. Having people who always make you feel at home as well as musical bus rides to running summer camp and meets all over the state have are my best memories of high school.

FLR: What advice you would give to younger athletes?

SD: Don't give up. Physically, it's difficult, but when you realize how much the experience has to offer, you'll know it's SO much more than just mileage and sweat. Give everything you have from the start and don't wait until it's too little too late!

FLR: What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

SD: My coach is my main mentor. I've learned so much from him over these years, especially about discipline, team work, and good leadership. Without him, I wouldn't have some of the life lessons that I'm so lucky to have now.

FLR: What are your college plans:?

SD: I'm currently training to begin school at George Washington University in the fall, where I will be on the cross country team and track team in the spring. Raise High!

FLR: Who would you like to say thank you to?

SD: I would like to thank my parents, for being the sole reason I went out for cross country to begin with; Coach Ryan, Coach P and the coaches for being such caring leaders and teachers, and my teammates for always supporting each other and working hard to a common goal. AND TODD GRASLEY FOR ALWAYS COVERING OUR RACES, OF COURSE!
