Salute To Seniors: Bo Benik - Bloomingdale High School


The 2015-2016 school year has provided some great highlights in both cross country and track across the Sunshine State. In the coming weeks many of our seniors will head out to start their college careers both athletically and academically. We wanted to salute them one more time in this special feature and say thank you for your support over the years.

Flrunners.com: What was your most memorable race/moment?

Bo Benik: My most memorable race was being able to go out senior year and run cross country states for the first time.

FLR: Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?

BB: There was some great competition in 4A District 7 with Newsome, Plant City, and Durant and some great competition in 4A Region 2. My biggest competitor who always would push me in races was Luke Whitmore. 

FLR: What was your greatest accomplishment?

BB: My greatest accomplishment was qualifying for states this year individually in cross country even though the team made it. It was a great accomplishment for senior year.

FLR: If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

BB: If I could change one thing about these last 4 years, it would be developing the mental strength to succeed earlier on in high school.

FLR: What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

BB: The biggest obstacles to overcome were developing the mental strength to succeed and progressing to state as a team.

FLR: What will you miss the most?

BB: The one thing I will miss the most is my teammates and all the friends I've made over these 4 years in this sport.

FLR: What advice you would give to younger athletes?

BB: The best advice I can give to younger athletes is to always give it your best shot. No one could ever ask for more than your 110% effort.

FLR: What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

BB: My coaches taught me the value of hard work and had a major impact on shaping the person I am today.

FLR: What are your college plans?

BB: I plan to attend Mars Hill University in North Carolina to major in business and run cross country and track.

FLR: Who would you like to say thank you to?

BB: I would like to thank my family, my coaches, and teammates and all the people I have met throughout the years and have supported me.

FLR: Is there anything else you'd like to add?

BB: I would like to thank everyone for all they've contributed to running in high school over these past 4 years, It's been a ride.
