In the hottest part of the Florida afternoon, rising sophomore Tyrese Cooper blazed the track at the AAU National Club Championships with a time of 20,66 in the 200m PRELIMS!  The time is two one-hundredths better than his freshman national record of 20.68 set in week one of the season, back in February, at the Louie Bing Classic.

Over the course of the 2016 outdoor season, the sixteen year old sensation has run sub 21 seconds an outstanding twelve times!

Only Noah Lyles (20.09) and Michael Norman (20.14) who were fourth and fifth at the Olympic Trials, as well as, Shamon Ehiehuma of Texas (20.56), the Great Southwest Classic Champion have run faster in the United States.

In the prelims of the 100m dash on Tuesday, Cooper clocked a meet record time of 10.63 into a -1.7 m/s wind with fellow class of 2018 stars Anthony Schwartz (10.73), and Seneca Milledge (10.88) coming in second and third.

Just how fast can "Smoke" run and will the freshman national records in both the 100 and 200m drop even more? This weekend those questions will be answered!
