Olympian & National Record Holders Join Jamaicans at VA Showcase

Jumps Preview

Headlining the boys' jumps are US #1 and US #2 returning triple jumpers Hasani Knight (Landstown) and Gary Williams (Western Branch). Both have yet to reach the top of the podium at New Balance Nationals and this will be the first of their three step process to achieve that national title.

This will be the first major competition for them and also the first of three major competitions where these two stellar athletes will square off. The next two will be states and then Nationals.

The likely winning marks for these events will be: 6-10, 24', 52'

Though the fields are not set for all the girls' jumps, it is looking like the top seeds for the three events will be 5-10, 21', and 42'! All three events will have some stellar athletes.

The biggest of these athletes right now is Thomas Dale's Titiana Marsh who holds both the freshman and sophomore national records in the triple jump. She owns pr's of 42-4 and 20-0.5 in both jumps. One of her biggest competitors will be Rush Henrietta's Lanae-Tava Thomas who has gone 37-5.25 and 20-8. Both of these athletes are going to have to pr to win.

If that wasn't enough, it is looking like the 15th seed in the girls triple jump will be a staggering 38' and a top five all over 40'. This could be the greatest competition in the girls' triple jump in US history.
