WATCH: 2A Region 4 Debuts Two Day Format, Makes For Impressive 3,200m Runs

Call it unfair, call it fair, call it what you may, but the 2A Region 4 Championship kicked off it's two day format with a superb girls and boys 3,200m run. Key West sophomore Nicole Matysik led a trio under 11:00 crossing the line in a new PR of 10:53.55 and her first regional championship.

Gulliver Prep sophomore Natalie Varela was second with a time of 10:57.88 with Foot Locker Nationals finalist right behind her in 10:57.90. Pine Crest freshman Tsion Yared nabbed the fourth and final spot in a race that had just three upperclassmen in the field of sixteen.

The boys weren't going to be out done and FSU signee Caleb Pottorff guided the group with his third fastest time of the season 9:23.13. In getting the win, Pottorff picked up his third straight 2A Region 4 Championship. He was third as a freshman in 2014.

The race was really for second place with Mason Jones, Will Shine, and Owen Allen separated by less than three seconds to advance to the state meet next week in Bradenton.
