The ripple effects of Hurricane Irma were felt even this Saturday. The Mitchell Invitational, typically held at Jay B Starkey Park in New Port Richey was moved to the campus at Anclote High School. Mitchell head coach Alan Parmenter called the park on Monday to check its status, thinking there would be some damage to the course. His suspicions were confirmed. Downed trees littered the course and much of the staff from the park were out on assignment to other county parks. It wasn't going to happen at Starkey. Parmenter made a call to Anclote, his former school where he started the cross country program in 2009. The request to have the meet moved was approved and Parmenter laid out the course he'd done many times before.
