Kansas City Chief Star Tyreek Hill Isn't Shy About His Speed At NFL Pro Bowl

Speed is an integral part of football. We caught up with Tyreek Hill of the Kansas City Chiefs at Pro Bowl Practice in Orlando and the former high school track star laughed at the thought that anyone was faster.

Hill's track credentials validate his pure skills shown on the gridiron. The Coffee, Georgia product blazed a 10.19 (+1.7) in the prelims of the 100m dash at Golden South. At the time the mark was the 6th fastest mark in U.S. history and set up a finals showdown between Hill, Levonte Whitfield (now in the NFL), and Trayvon Bromell (now professional sprinter with New Balance) with a ticket to the Adidas Dream 100 on the line.

Whitfield, a junior, cruised to win the 100m final in 10.38 (+1.8) over Hill (10.41) and Gibbs High School (FL) junior Bromell (10.40). Whitfield and Bromell's times stood as the nation's No. 5 and No. 8 wind-legal performances of the year.

The 100m showdown set the stage for arguably one of the best performances in Golden South history. Hill ran a personal best and US#1 time of 20.49 (+1.0) in the prelims, but he was just getting warmed up. Rocking a jersey that said "Beast", he went into beast mode clocking a time of 20.14 (+1.8), the second fastest time in U.S. prep history.

Where do these historic marks rank today, six years later? Hill's 100m prelims time of 10.19 and 200m finals time of 20.14 stand as Flo Golden South meet records.

His 100m time ranks No. 9 all-time and his 200m time ranks No. 2 all-time, just behind the national record of 20.09, set by Noah Lyles of Virginia in 2016. Hill won USA Juniors as a senior in 10.28 and was 4th at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Barcelona.
