Distance Events Plus Roberts & Kirksey In The Field Kick Off Bolles Pre-Season Meet With A Bang

The Bolles Pre-Season Mini Meet provided for some nice early season performances. Bulldogs senior Mone't Bowen, a Howard University, posted a pair of elite marks with a 100m hurdle time of 14.69s and sub 25, 24.92 in the 200m dash. 

In the distance events, Grace Blair of Oak Hall, who won the 1A Cross Country Finals, and swept the 800, 1,600, and 3,200 at the 1A state meet edged out Rachel Shapiro 2:20.09 to 2:22.81 to win the girl's 800 meter run. Maeve O'Riordan won the girls 1,600m in 5:18.67.

2A pole vault state runner-up Laine Roberts kicked off 2018 with a bang and a new personal best mark of 12''3.5".

Roberts and Purdue signee Morgan Brown of Calvary should make for an exciting pole vault final come May in Jacksonville. JAC teammate Caroline Johnston was second.

Bolles definitely has depth in the distance events. The headline race of the night may have been after the JV guys went and the varsity athletes took the track. Chase Rivera, Charles Hicks, Nathan Jubran, and John Bowers all ran sub two minutes in a race that seemed effortless. Rivera, Jubran, and Bowers were integral part of the Bulldogs state title team that competed at NXN.

Other impressive performances include high jumper Bryson Kirksey who cleared 6'4.75" and throwers Marshall Gainer and Dylan Lageman who launched the discus 148'1" and 145'5" respectively.
