VOTE: Girls Performance Of The Week Poll



It was a busy weekend as track and field is starting to heat up in the state of Florida. As some teams are starting there seasons this upcoming weekend, others decided to spike up and get it going early. Which girl had the best performance of the week? You decide. Vote in our poll by Sunday at 11:59 p.m. and the winner will be announced at the beginning of the week.

About The Finalists:

Koriyunna Arrington: In the Panhandle at the Seahawks Open, it was the sophomore from Pine Forest HS who walked away with an impressive 100 and 300 meter hurdle victories. Arrington recorded a fast 48.63 to pace her to the win in the 300 hurdles. 

Mone't Bowen: The senior from Bolles HS opened at her home track with a dominating performance as she won the 100 meter hurdles and the 200 meter dash. At the Bolles Preseason Mini Meet, Bowen dropped a 14.69 in the hurdles. 

Tamari Davis:
 The early youngster of the year award has to go to the freshman from Gainesville HS. Running for Empire Athletics to get some indoor work in, Davis blazed her way to a 23.42 in the 200 at Dunamis Super Meet as she shattered the freshman record and set a pair of US #1's.  

Jatana Folston: Folston, who comes from a family of athletes had her mind set on the 600m national record at the Flagler Pinnacle Classic. The Cocoa HS junior came up just shy of the 1:31.91 held by Carolyn Wilson, but crossed the line in a state leading and US#2 all-time mark of 1:32.04.

Jan'taijah Ford: The junior from Northeast HS (Oakland Park) opened up her season by winning the 300 and 600 meter dash at the Hallandale All-Comers Meet. Ford dropped a 37.63 in the 300 and then came back to win the 600 meter dash in a time of 1:32.66.

Amani Heaven:The senior from Hallandale HS has erupted onto the throwers scene as she holds the FL #1 mark in the shot and discus. Heaven dominated the field at the Hallandale All-Comers Meet, as she threw a 43.43 m in the discus and a 12.46 in the shot. 

Laine Roberts- It was a busy week for the sophomore from Bolles HS who won the Pole Vault on Thursday at the Bolles Preseason Mini Meet and then turned around to win the JAC Mall Pole Vault on Saturday. She leads FL with a mark of 3.75 meters. 

Shekinah White: The senior from Miami Southridge HS leads FL with the #1 Triple Jump mark of 11.2 meters. White opened up at the Hallandale All-Comers Meet where she took the win.


Tsion Yared: The distance veteran set the bar high at the Pine Crest HS Preseason Mini Meet. The sophomore from Pine Crest HS and the 2A FHSAA Cross Country Championship dropped a 5:04.98 in the 1600 meter to get the season underway.
