VOTE: Girls Performance Of The Week



It was a busy week for many in South Florida as it was the Broward County Qualifiers and then the Championship on Saturday, while North Florida was host to two massive meets as the FSU Relays and UNF Pre State Meet provided platforms for athletes to gain some national attention. Make sure to vote for your favorite Girl Athlete of the Week and then check back later this week to see who won.  

Rayquel Berry- The senior from Coral Reef HS won the long jump and the triple jump at the GMAC Championships as she set the top mark in FL in the triple jump with a mark of 38-2.75. Berry bounced back with dominant performances a week after setting the top marks in FL in the long jump and the triple jump. 

Kaytie Black- The senior from Northeast HS made her debut on this list as she ran the fastest 100m dash of the week  at the BCAA North Central Qualifier. Black won the 100m in a time of 11.77 and went on to finish 2nd at the BCAA in the 100m with a time of 12.14.

Dianisty Bolden- The junior from Largo HS made the trip to Tallahassee and didn't disappoint as she won the 100m and the 200m at the FSU Relays. Her 200m time of 24.38 was the 2nd best time of the week in FL while her 100m victory was too wind aided to count in the rankings. Bolden's impressive sweep of the 100 and 200 has put her on the map. 

Caitlin Collier- You must be doing something right when you hold the US #1 time in the 800 meter and the 1600 meter. The Stanford signee had a big weekend as she set the top time in the country in the 800m with a 2:04.87. The senior from Bolles dominated the 800m and 1600m at the FSU Relays won the 1600m with a time of 4:47.61. 

Amani Heaven- Broward County is Amani Heaven's world, when it comes to the throwing events, and we are just living in it. The senior from Hallandale HS won the shot put and the discus at the BCAA Championship on Saturday. She also set the best shot put mark in FL with a throw of 44-8.75. The FSU signee has captivated the state of Florida and all be the favorite as the state series begins. 

Hannah Lowenstein- The sophomore from St Thomas Aquinas HS won the high jump and set the top jump of the week with a jump of 5-7.75. Lowenstein now holds the FL #3 jump in the high jump with her big personal best this past weekend. St Thomas Aquinas now has two of the top three high jumpers in the state of FL. 

Karen Lyvers- The senior pole vaulter had a day at the FSU Relays as she won with a vault of 12-2.5 feet and she also posted the top vault mark in FL from this past week. The senior from Lakewood Ranch HS had a big PB on a huge stage as she closes the gap to passing the FL #1 vaulter in Laine Roberts. 

Sydney McGinley- A busy week for the Hallandale HS senior as she posted the top 300m hurdle time of the week with a 43.26 in the prelims of the BCAA. McGinley won the 100 and 300 hurdles at the BCAA South Qualifier and finished in 2nd in the 100 and 300 hurdles at the BCAA Championships. 

Claire Openshaw- The sophomore from Creekside HS had a huge 14 second personal best at the FSU Relays in the 3200m where she set the FL #1 mark in the 3200 meter. Openshaw finished in 2nd behind Elizabeth Funderburk (GA) as she also went sub 5 minutes for the first time ever in the 1600. Openshaw's 4:55.94 was good enough for a third place finish in the 1600 on Saturday afternoon.   


Congrats To Last Week's Winner: Abby Thorpe Of Creekside -226 of 323 Votes (69.97%)

The senior from Creekside HS took full advantage of knowing her surroundings as Thorpe won the high jump at the Friday Knight Invite. Abby set the FL #3 high jump mark with a jump of 5-7 and a personal best for the Liberty University signee.
