The 2017-2018 school year has provided some great highlights in both cross country and track across the Sunshine State. In the coming weeks many of our seniors will head out to start their college careers both athletically and academically. We wanted to salute them one more time in this special feature and say thank you for your support over the years. (Photo by Cedric Gillette)
What was your most memorable race/moment?
My most memorable race/moment was either my team winning the district championship in cross country my junior year or winning the 4x8 at regionals this year.
Who would you consider your biggest competition over the last four years?
I think I would consider my own team mates my biggest competition. We were such a tight knit group that always pushed each other to work harder during workouts and races.
What was your greatest accomplishment?
My greatest accomplishment would probably helping put South Walton on the map over my four years there.
If you could do it all over again, what would you change about your running career?
I would've worked harder my first two years. I really found the value in giving your best effort my junior year.
What was the biggest obstacle you had to overcome?
I think the biggest obstacle I've had to overcome would be the team being down a few guys at regionals my junior year and still getting 4th and going on to get 6th at state.
What will you miss the most?
I will miss my team mates and coach the most. They've been my biggest motivators and biggest supporters over the years.
What advice would you give to younger athletes?
I would say to always give your best effort, it may hurt in the moment, but it will definitely pay off.
What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?
My coach has been instrumental in every accomplishment I've made throughout high school and has definitely helped me mature into the person I am today. I wouldn't be where I am today without him.
What are your college plans?
I will be attending Flagler College on a cross country scholarship and will be studying marketing.
Who would you like to say thank you to?
I would like to say thank you to my parents, my coach, my teammates, and all the great competition I've faced over the past few years. I couldn't have done it without them.
