Hugh Brittenham and Cheyenne Young capped off their seasons with FACA All-Star wins this weekend.
It was a cool morning at Holloway Park and the all-star senior group gathered with their teams for a pre-race warm-up after their fun Friday night festivities.
Girls Race
The girls race kicked off the morning with Cheyenne Young, Isabella Coogan, Chloe Hyde, and Cadi Rowe taking off in that lead pack.
Top 10 All-Star Senior Girls
Cheyenne Young broke away around the 1.5 - 2 mile mark with Isabella Coogan hanging on her shoulder. Young and Coogan are usually local competitors in the southwest Florida area, but on Saturday they were teammates. Young and Coogan went one and two to lead the west girls to victory, with Cadi Rowe finishing forth for the west team.

Boys Race
The boys race was very similar to the girls with two West teammates: Hugh Brittenham and Jacob Hensley taking the first two places with East's Matthew Cummings in third. There was a large pack of boys at the first mile and it broke up with about 2k to go -- Brittenham in the lead.
Top 10 All-Star Senior Boys
It was a close race for the team title on the boys side. The south boys brought their south Florida fire with Owen Allen, Samuel Munera, and Isaias De La Puente leading the charge. Unfortunately it was not enough to beat out the West boys. It came down to a two point differential with the West boys taking the victory.

West Florida proved their dominance this weekend at the All-Star meet, but every student athlete can agree that this was an experience that they will remember and cherish for years after high school.
Boys and Girls Team Champions: West Florida
It's not every day that your competitors get to become your teammates and this event brought together athletes that normally would not see one another but once a year.
Special thanks to FACA staff and coaches that were involved in making this one special moment that fostered friendships and teamwork across the state. This is what cross country is all about.
