Joe Wester Commits to Florida After 9:09 3200m on Saturday

The University of Florida adds another talented recruit with Satellite transfer Joe Wester.

The future Gator took to Instagram to announce the news on Monday night.

Wester's commitment news follows a great racing weekend for the Satellite Scorpion. The senior ran a time of 9:09.69 at the Set Goals Not Limits 3200m this weekend -- nearly a whole minute personal record for the distance.

In just a few months training with the Satellite team, Wester has proven he is not just a 1:55 800m and 4:19 1600m middle-distance athlete, but one who can also mix it up in the 5k and 3200m distances as well. Earlier this cross country season he finished third overall at the Viera Invitational with a new cross country 5k PR of 15:42 to add to his resume.

Over the next few weeks, Wester will look to help lead his nationally ranked team to a back-to-back state championship, and possibly go for the 21-point team state record as well as challenge for the individual state win.

Wester joins 2018 3A state champion Javi Vento and Fort Lauderdale distance star Michael Fiore as part of the Gators mens recruiting class of 2021.
