Dotson is GCAC Runner of the Week for the fifth time


NEW ORLEANS -- Xavier University of Louisiana men's cross country standout Mark Dotson is the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Runner of the Week for the fifth time this season.


Dotson, a freshman from Alexandria, La., and a 2009 graduate of Holy Savior Menard Central High School, ran four miles in 22 minutes, 38.64 seconds Friday in the USM Open to earn his first collegiate victory. He led the Gold Rush to its second team victory of the season.
Dotson has four top-five finishes this season and three of the eight fastest four-mile times in Xavier history.
Both Xavier teams will compete Friday in the Demon Invitational at Natchitoches, La. It's their the final meet before the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Championships at Clinton, Miss., on Nov. 7.
