Hannah Douglas US Top 10 53.80 400 At Golden South

Hannah Douglas of IMG Academy just ran off her 53.70 personal best in the 400-meter dash in a victory at the Golden South Series #1 on Saturday night at Dunbar High School in Fort Myers with a 53.80 performance.

Douglas had the 4A girls 200-meter dash state champion Cydney Wright of Mainland to push her, so the race pitted against one another actually Florida's fastest two sprinters at the 200-meter dash distance between Douglas (23.44) and Wright (23.46)

Wright was able to stay with Douglas thru the first 300 meters, which they hit just under 40 seconds before the junior from IMG in Douglas was able to pull away for the win on the final straightaway. The winning time at Golden South would rank US top 10 for Douglas if not already for US #8 with her season-best time from earlier this season.

The Stanford signee Wright finished second with her second-fastest 400-meter performance ever as well as a second race under 55 seconds at 54.82.
