Future Stars Of XC: Florida's Best Dozen Freshmen Boys

2. Joey Diaz-Quintero (Belen Jesuit)

The second freshman from Belen Jesuit on this list, Joey Diaz-Quintero has been incredibly consistent this season with a total of five races in the 16:30's range for 5K including a most recent 16:31 PR as the second-fastest freshman at the FSU Pre-State Invite to help his squad to the team title.

Diaz-Quintero even has a race victory attached to his name, which is a rarity for a freshman boy in winning the Miami-Dade County Youth Fair Championships on September 24th at Larry & Penny Thompson Park in a 16:33 performance. Diaz-Quintero was just six seconds off the top-performing freshman at the Pre-State meet. He is tied for the most sub 17 minute performances by a ninth-grader this season at 5 meets.
