FHSAA Boys Cross Country State Championships History

Lots of rich history can be discovered in the FHSAA boys cross country record book including the 10 state champions, 6 runner-up finishes, and 4 individual state champions produced by the Largo boys program under the direction of coach Brent Haley.

Go back into the history of past FHSAA boys' cross country state championships below with the official FHSAA record book.

A couple of potential historic implications on the line at the 2021 FHSAA State Cross Country Finals for boys:

  • If Nease senior Rheinhardt Harrison wins the 4A state individual title, Harrison would join a shortlist of only four past boys individuals to ever win 3 state cross country titles in Brian Atkinson of Melbourne (2007, 2008, 2009), William Convey of Ransom Everglades (1980, 1981, 1982), Matt Mizereck of Leon (2007, 2008, 2009), and Rolf Steier of Berkeley Prep (1999, 2000, 2001). Harrison won 4A state titles in 2019 and 2020.
  • The meet and course record at Apalachee Regional Park as well as overall state meet 5K record are in jeopardy with Rheinhardt Harrison as well with his 14:45 5K all-time best. Sukhi Khosla (Leon, 2014) holds the state meet record at Apalachee Regional Park at 15:01.80 as well as the course record at 14:59.94. The overall state meet record at the 5K distance from other venues stands at 14:58.87 by Jimmy Clark of Creekside in 2010 at Little Everglades Ranch.
  • If Leon sophomore Patrick Koon wins the 3A state individual title, Leon would extend its lead as the program with the most individual boys state champions all-time to 10 (currently at 9).
  • If Belen Jesuit boys win the 3A state team title, their program would extend its lead of all-time team titles to 13 (currently at 12) and would also tie the 1998-2002 era of Maclay School boys for longest streak of consecutive team titles at 5. They currently have an active streak of 4 straight titles (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020)
