Ariyanna Griggs, an 8th grader competing unattached from South Florida, last weekend at the Broward Elite Athletic Club Preseason Showcase in Fort Lauderdale, defeated top high school and post-high school talent in the sprints, with impressive winning times of 12.01 in the 100-meter dash and 24.33 in the 200-meter dash.
Both times are the fastest times in the country for any 8th grader currently this year and even if want to look back at last year's times over an entire season are faster than any 8th grader ran in 2021 as well to put in perspective how impressive both performances are.
It will be intriguing where she ends up and how she progresses into her high school years. She has competed for several different track clubs as a youth while attending Attucks Middle School located in Hollywood, Florida in Broward County.
