2023 FHSAA State Outdoor Champs Set For May 17-20 At UNF

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - After most recently hosting back in 2021, the University of North Florida has once again agreed to host the Florida High School Track & Field State Championships this year. While James G. Pressly Stadium, Percy Beard Track had been the expected host for the 2023 event, the University of Florida has recently informed the Florida High School Athletic Association that it would be unable to fulfill any hosting duties moving forward.

With the sudden change, Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville will now host the 2023 event May 17th - 20th on the University of North Florida campus.

These new dates will reflect a one week change in the already announced dates in the FHSAA planning calendar and will not impact any District or Regional dates that have already been established. This upcoming 2023 event will be held in a single classification format by day.

"I would like to thank the University of North Florida Athletics Department for their swift action and willingness to provide a first-class championship experience for our membership in a time of need," said Craig Damon, FHSAA Executive Director. "While disappointed in the University of Florida's decision, we are eager to showcase our student-athletes moving forward at one of the preeminent track and field facilities in the nation."

As soon as more specific information is available regarding tickets, an event schedule, or even discounted partner hotels, it will be announced on the track and field sport page of FHSAA.com. Everyone's patience is appreciated as the FHSAA works in conjunction with the University of North Florida to plan another great championship event for member schools and student-athletes in the State of Florida. 607
