Riley Smith had been nursing a small injury and had an easy few weeks to ensure he was healthy for the Florida Championship series.
In the 2nd week of April, he was cross-training and doing several short runs. "I'm going to be back training hard in the next couple of days. There isn't too much going on right now other than taking care of my body and making sure I don't make any big mistakes with my health. The team is looking sharp right now and getting ready for the championship season."
As we enter into Districts, Riley is confident that his injury is behind him.
"I am going to be competing in the 1600 and the 3200 at Districts and hopefully both at States as well. At this moment my goal is to simply win both and keep working into the postseason to be fit and ready for national events. I won't be competing in any relays and trying to ease back into hard work without putting too much stress on my body. I believe that I will run both the 1600 and the 3200 in the postseason but will not likely run another 800. I believe I can still come back from injury and win races and run fast times in those events."
