Friday at FLRUNNERS - Madison Muller in the Spotlight

The course was changed on Thursday from the normal 5K course at Holloway Park to the Loop Course because of flooding on the back side of the course. It was hot, humid and the course had some wet, muddy areas, but the girls and boys varsity races on Friday featured several of the states top ranked runners and teams and they were not deterred.  



In the Girl's varsity race early on, three girls girls were up front and quickly separated from the field. Cambridge (Christian) School Jr. Eliana Black,  Jr. Jazlyn Forbes of Oasis, and Sarasota Riverview Fr. Madison Muller.  It was the freshman, Muller who took the lead with around 400m to go and held on to win in 18:42.69 over a determined Jazlyn Forbes 18:45.19.  Black was third in 19:41.81.  

The girls team race went to the Cambridge (Christian) School girls who scored just 36 points, going 3+4+6+9+14.  2nd went to Lake Mary HS with 66 points.  Led by So.Natalee Brubaker (21:53.81) who finished in 10th, the Lake Mary girl's scorers went 10+12+13+15+16.



The boy's team race also went to the Cambridge (Christian) School.  Led by the #1 and 2 finishers, Mark Meister and Ethan Esposito, Cambridge scored 53 points going 1+2+7+8+35.  Meister pressed the pace early and dominated the race, winning in 16:52.38. Esposito ran 17:30.60.  Cambridge was challenged by Sarasota Riverview who finished 2nd scoring 69 points.  Riverview went 11+13+16+25+31.  Sr. Ryan Purdy led the Riverview boy's finishing in 3rd place with a 17:44.89.



The Middle School girl's and boy's ran on the same course that they will run on in three weeks in the FLYRA Middle School State XC Championships.  It was a preview of what is to come.  In the girls race, 8th grader Barbarita Jedlicka of the Boca Warrior Track Club won in 11:21.49 with her teammate, Makaela Morilla finishing 2nd in 11:26.44.

The Middle School girl's team title went to the Boca Warriors Track Club who scored just 43 points, going 1+2+11+20+21 with their scorers.  Their #6 girl was 22nd.

Reed Hagen of ERYRC won the boy's Middle School race in 10:12.55 in a close race with Nicholas Alvarez of the Red Sea Running Club.  Alvarez ran 10:13.39.

The Middle School boy's team title went to the Red Sea Running Club who scored 40 points to take the championship.  The Red Seas boys went 2+3+10+12+13 with their scorers outdistancing the 2nd place Belen Jesuit Preparatory Middle School boys who scored 64 point going 5+11+15+17+21.

The girl's Elementary School Winner was  Arielle Gorlovetzky of the Boca Warriors Track Club.  she won the girl's 2,000m race in 7:29.03.



The boy's Elementary School Race was won by Johnathon Hartley.  Hartley, running unattached, ran 7:20.36 on the 2,000m course.
