Bob Thomas, the FSU Invitational/Pre-State High School & Middle School Coordinator, put out the following statement earlier today.
"The 2024 FSU Invitational/Pre-State Meet Has Been Cancelled
After lengthy deliberation, Visit Tallahassee, the Leon County Division of Tourism, has decided to cancel the 2024 FSU Invitational/Pre-State High School and Middle School races. Facing wide-ranging logistical challenges as a result of Hurricane Milton's impact on the State of Florida, it is not feasible to contest a significantly reduced, rescheduled competition on Saturday, Oct. 19. We regret having to come to this decision, and hope this morning's notice will provide ample opportunity to those teams who graciously stood by through these difficult days, will be able to find a competition next weekend.
Thanks to your outpouring of interest, we were on the cusp of the largest and most competitive meet in our 51-year history. I share in your disappointment.
We look forward to seeing many of you in November at Apalachee Regional Park and welcoming you back for the 2025 FSU Invitational/Pre-State meet.
All registered teams will be refunded by Direct Athletics, which has informed me that the transaction process should be completed in 7-10 business days.
Thank you again for your patience, support and consideration. We wish everyone much success as your season's continue, hopefully, hurricane-free."
