2025 Louie Bing Finals Set - Fla's Sprint Power on Display

The 2025 Louie Bing Invitational finals are set. Watch for an early-season display of Florida's sprint power. Running into a slight headwind yesterday, both the boy's and girls' hurdlers and sprinters displayed their early-season talent in the prelims and set up some fireworks for the finals. There were too many US #1-5's to mention, but it's the first week of the outdoor season here in Florida. Texas and California are in gear, and just a few of the southern states' seasons are underway in what is quickly shaping up to be an incredible high school track season.

One notable opener was Lauren Kirby's win in the Shot Put. Kirby of Somerset Pembroke Pines set a new meet record at Louie Bing, throwing 14.63 (48-0.00), taking down the record of 47-5 set by Northwestern's Chanel Dawson in 2018. Kirby is the current Florida State record holder in the shot put with a toss of 15.48m.

Across Florida, as the regular season got underway, there were notable performances other than at Louie Bing. Junior Christopher Bronaugh of Windermere ran a brisk 10.33 in the 100m at the 2nd Annual Be Like Ike Invitational. In a pre-season meet, Belen senior Joseph Socarras ran an impressive early season 1:51.45 in the 800m.
