In a mainly low-key and informal opening day meet at Bolles School in Jacksonville, Bishop Kenny's two leading meet--Colin Barker and Michael Wallace--lit it up. Colin Barker's 4:16 1600m mark would make even the state's finest runners smile as a season-ending performance, but he opened 2010 with it! Teammate Michael Wallace had a nice run himself: winning the 800 in 1:57.
Other top boys performances included Dylan Gidado of Bolles with a 141-7 discus and 47-7 shot for 2nd to Josh Hood's 47-8. And Patrick Gardner 6-2 in the HJ.
For the girls, the Episcopal girls dominated the Pole Vault with Paige Shirley, Emily Smithwick, and Julia Rogers going 1-2-3 in 10-0, 10-0, 9-6, respectively. Rebeccah Chandler of Bolles ran a 2:23 800m. Murphy Williams of Episcopal cleared 5-4 in the high jump. And Jaime Heekin of Bishop Kenny won the 1600 in 5:19.
