New Balance Outdoor: Charlotte Boys 4x8 US #2 All-Time 7:30.31!

Charlotte Boys 4x8 Set State Record and U.S # 2 All-Time Mark of 7:30.31!

The Charlotte Boys 4x800 relay headed to North Carolina with hopes of bringing home a national championship. Anthony Borrego, Bryan Hilgar, Ryan Schnulle, and Tyler Cardillo came up just shy to an all-star team from Long Beach, California, but have plenty to brag about. Ryan Schnulle brought the group from fourth place to first where he handed off the baton to Tyler Cardillo who ran a 1:50.08 anchor leg to give the group a time of 7:30.31, the fastest time in state history and the second fastest time in U.S. history.

Freeman, Green, Newest National Champions

Lake Wales senior Octavious Freeman didn't break the national record of 11.11, but she did defend her title in the 100 meter dash. Freeman won in 11.41. The time is even more impressive when you factor in the -2.2 head wind she was running into. Freeman will look to get the double when she runs the 200 meter dash on Saturday. She currently holds the US#1 time in the 200 and won the event last year at New Balance Outdoor Nationals.

The names Hugh Graham Jr. and Artie Burns are nationally known. Freshman Jefferey Green wants some love too. Green won the freshman quarter-mile in 48.62 which was a new meet record. He will join Burns, Graham, and James Grant on a loaded 4x400 meter relay team that will compete with rival St. Thomas Aquinas for the national championship.

Hurdle Power

Of the eight runners in the 110 meter hurdle finals, two of them were from Florida. Super sophomore Artie Burns was the Sunshine State's best finisher. Burns finished second in 13.68 narrowly missing the sophomore record by three one-hundredths of a second. Palm Beach Lakes senior Malik Lewis, who finished second in 3A, finished fifth in 13.95.
