Florida Boys' Top 10 Performances From Week Four: A Recap
Week Four of the 2026 Florida cross country season featured one sub-16-minute performance, six different meets represented, and a tie for the final position in the statewide top 10.
East Ridge's Axel Sallault led the way with a 15:56.93 at the Astronaut Invitational on a wet, muddy weekend that saw varsity races canceled at the HOKA Nights of Thunder in Tallahassee due to lightning. Isaiah Howdeshell and Skylar Manatt followed, while only 0.90 seconds separated the runners ranked eighth through 10th.
With Luke Engels and Evan Kirby recording identical times, 11 runners earned places among Florida's top 10 performances.
1. Axel Sallault, East Ridge - 15:56.93
Axel Sallault recorded Florida's only sub-16-minute boys' performance of Week Four, running 15:56.93 at the Astronaut Invitational. Sallault finished the week 10.18 seconds ahead of the next-fastest runner. It was his second time leading the weekly rankings after running 15:47.00 at Whispering Pines during Week Two.
2. Isaiah Howdeshell, Largo - 16:07.11
Isaiah Howdeshell led a strong group of performances at the Seffner Christian Invitational. The Largo senior covered the muddy and challenging 5K course at Holloway Park in 16:07.11, giving him Florida's second-fastest time of Week Four.
3. Skylar Manatt, Cypress Creek - 16:13.40
Skylar Manatt continued his strong start to the season with a 16:13.40 performance at Land O' Lakes. The Cypress Creek runner also ranked among Florida's Week Two leaders after recording a 16:06.70 at Whispering Pines. His latest performance placed him third in the Week Four rankings.
4. Logan Haley, Branford - 16:17.90
Logan Haley produced the fastest of three top-10 performances from the Buchholz Bobcats Classic. The Branford junior ran16:17.90, placing him fourth among all Florida boys during Week Four.
5. Liam Ilea, Tavares - 16:21.46
Liam Ilea joined Sallault among the state's top five at the Astronaut Invitational.
The Tavares runner recorded a time of 16:21.46. It was his second appearance among Florida's weekly top five after running 16:00.60 at Whispering Pines during Week Two.
6. Landon Watkins, Sickles - 16:22.46
Landon Watkins earned another place in the statewide top 10 with a 16:22.46 at the Seffner Christian Invitational. Watkins previously ran 16:03.50 during Week One and broke 16 minutes with a 15:57.85 at the Florida Horse Park Invitational in Week Three.
7. Jonas Williams, Newsome - 16:25.40
Jonas Williams gave the Seffner Christian Invitational its third runner inside the statewide top seven for week four's races. Williams crossed the line in 16:25.40. He has appeared among Florida's weekly top 10 for three consecutive weeks.
8. Owen Tucker, Gulf Breeze - 16:26.40
Owen Tucker of Gulf Breeze was among the state's fastest performers with a 16:26.40 at the Gulf Coast Stampede. Tucker's performance placed him eighth in Florida during Week Four.
9. Reed Hagen, Fort Myers - 16:26.60
Only two-tenths of a second separated Reed Hagen from Owen Tucker in in the top ten times for week fours races. The Fort Myers sophomore recorded a 16:26.60 in his win at the Fort Myers Invitational, earning the ninth-fastest performance of Week Four.
T-10. Luke Engels, Eastside - 16:27.30
Luke Engels secured a share of the final top-10 position with a 16:27.30 at the Buchholz Bobcats Classic. The Eastside runner finished only 0.90 seconds behind the No. 8 position.
T-10. Evan Kirby, Fletcher - 16:27.30
Evan Kirby matched Engels' time of 16:27.30 at the Buchholz Bobcats Classic, creating a tie for 10th in the week for top ten performances.
Kirby and Engels gave the Buchholz meet two runners tied for the final position and three performances among Florida's top 10.
Sallault's sub-16-minute effort highlighted a week four in which only 30.37 seconds separated the first and 10th positions. Behind him, Howdeshell at No. 2 trailed by just 20.19 seconds from the two runners tied at No. 10.
The Seffner Christian Invitational and Buchholz Bobcats Classic each produced three top-10 performances, while the Astronaut Invitational added two. With several familiar names returning to the rankings and a tie closing out the list, Week Four shows the increasing depth of Florida boys' cross country.
