GIRLS 1600m CHAMPIONSHIP

START: Lavera Morris and Jenny Barringer takes the early initiative with Laura Bowerman, Mallory Giordano, and Amanda Quick close behind.
200m: :34 - Barringer begins to move up along the outside beside Lavera but all still very tight.
400m: :72 - Barringer, Morris, Bowerman, Quick, and Giordano lead, followed closely by Taylor Cook and Maggie Potter.
600m: 1:59 - Barringer, Morris, Bowerman, Giordano, Quick are all holding strong in a 5-pack up front. A continually widening gap has opened up between the leaders and the next group of girls.
800m: 2:42 - The 2-5 positions change many times, but it appears that only Barringer is willing to lead and push the pace.
900m: Barringer is off with a little surge just after lap two and opened up about a three step lead, before Morris decided to close it back up. With the surge the pack begins to spread out just a little bit with Giordano trying to hold on at the end of the pack.
1100m: Barringer is still trying to get some distance with 500m to go, but Bowerman won't let her go, as she has moved up into second in front of Lavera Morris.
1200m: 4:05 - Barringer is putting on a kick with Bowerman going with her. Lavera has fallen back a little, but is hanging tight. Giordano has lost some ground and is now about 10m from the front four.
1400m: Barringer, Bowerman, Morris, and Quick separate themselves from Giordano and begin battling for position with 200m to go.
1500m: Barringer leads with Morris coming along the outside. Quick has moved into third, Bowerman is fourth. Coming down the final 100m Barringer extends her lead, Morris kicks but won't catch her. Bowerman passes Quick with about 50m to go and tries to catch up with Lavera but can't quite get her.
FINISH: Barringer 5:20 with a shade of space before Morris and Bowerman cross neck and neck, and Amanda Quick just behind. Giordano crosses 10 seconds back in 5:32.

BOYS 1600m Championship

START: Eric Speer is the early leader. Andy starts to pick his way through the pack at about 100m.
200m: :30 - Shermon Richardson from Winter Haven is leading at this point, with about a two step lead over Eric, who is followed by Biladeau.
400m: 1:08 - Biladeau passes and takes lead just before 400m. Andy puts a little surge on and opens about a 5 step lead. Eric Speer closes the gap a bit after Andy's surge.
600m: 1:42 - Andy leading. Speer is trying to come around Biladeau on the turn. Richardson, the early leader, has dropped way off (will eventually drop out).
700m: 2:04 - Speer moves in front of Biladeau. Then Andy comes back up along the side of Speer.
800m: 2:20 - Biladeu passes and hits another surge after the lap mark. Speer drops back to third shortly after the 800m mark. Biladeau gets a bit of a gap, with Fred David in second.
1000m: 2:53 - Biladeau still in the lead, Fred David in second, Speer in third, Cormier in fourth just behind.
1200m: 3:28 - Fred David passes just before 1200 to take the lead. Dustin Hicks drops out.
1400m: 4:00 - Biladeau begins to fall off pace a bit. Fred David comes on strong to try to get some space, but Speer and Cormier don't let him have any ground. Speer is in second. Biladeau drops back as Cormier starts to come on very strongly.
1500m: It's a kicking contest down the final stretch with Fred David kicking with all he can find but unable to hold on to the lead as Eric Speer comes along the outside and passes him and begins to find some space. Cormier follows and kicks it into high gear to catch Speer or David, but is unable to do so; he is able to fend off Biladeau by a decent margin, as Biladeau tries to find in him some remaining speed to hang with these 800m stars but it just doesn't come.
1600m: 4:32.85 - Eric Speer crosses for the win, with Fred David about a half second back, followed by Tony Cormier at 4:34 and Andy Biladeau another second back.

GIRLS 800m CHAMPIONSHIP

100m :14 - Naquitta Dorsey of Miami Southridge is in the lead, with Lavera in second.
200m: :30 - Dorsey still in lead, Lavera holds strong in second--the front two have opened a little gap on the rest of the pack. Debenedet is a ways back in the pack in about 7th place.
300m: Kate Truesdale closes the small gap the Dorsey and Lavera had opened up. Robyn Debenedet picks her way through the pack.
400m: 1:06 - Gun lap. Kate Truesdale takes the lead, Lavera still in second, Dorsey falls to third, Debenedet moves into 4th--looks like she is starting to make a move.
500m: Lavera takes the lead over Truesdale, kicking big with 300m to go. Debenedet is trying to catch Dorsey and it looks like she will eventually get her.
600m: 1:46 - Lavera has opened a 5 meter lead out front and begins to extend that lead even more around final turn.
700m: 2:04 - Debenedet is really gaining precious steps on Dorsey, and finally passes her around the last turn to move into third. Lavera now has about a 15m lead.
800m: 2:20 - Lavera wins, Truesdale finishes three seconds back (2:23), followed by Debenedet (2:24) and then Dorsey (2:26).

BOYS 800m CHAMPIONSHIP

400m: 1:05 - Very slow first lap even considering the stiff wind. No one wants to push the pace.
500m: Sam Secord appears to be trying to break free from the pack but is boxed in.
700m: Phillip Watson and Sam Secord go at it down the final backstretch but then Andrew Charles of Colonial comes by and picks them both off.
800m: Charles outkicks Secord and Watson for the win. Watson is later DQed for wearing an earring.

GIRLS 3200m

400m: 1:19 - Just after the first lap Devin Gapstur is in the lead, with Amanda Quick right with her. The pack has still not broken up at all.
800m: 2:45 - Kerry Allen in the lead, Gapstur is in third, Amanda Quick is in fourth or fifth.
1200m: 4:20 - Allen asserts herself as the leader by an easy margin.
1600m: 5:45 - Allen in the lead. Chelsea Joiner is in second and Gapstur in third. Sara Petrick in fourth. Quick is in fifth. Caryn Dionne is in sixth.
2000m: 7:15 - Allen way out front. Joiner and Gapstur battling for second... they don't even look like they're going to even make a move for first. Petrick is in fourth, Quick holds on in fifth.
2400m: 8:43 - Allen has about a 70m lead. Devin takes over second place, crosses in 8:57. Chelsea Joiner crosses six laps in third with 8:59. Petrick in 9:03. Quick 9:07.
2600m: Allen from St. Pete is not slowing down and appears to have been kicking forever. She has huge smoothe-looking strides and maybe appears to be even picking up the pace.
2800m: 10:05 - Gun lap. Way out front. Gapstur in second at 10:29, Joiner in 10:35.
3000m: Allen still looking very strong--the neverending kick.
3100m: 11:18 - Kerry Allen. Gapstur looks like if she hurries she can make it under the elite mark of 12-minutes.
3200m: 11:35 - Allen wins by the length of the final straitaway. Gapstur 11:56, makes elite mark. Joiner 12:07 for third, Quick beats out Petrick for fourth.

BOYS 3200m

800m: 2:23 - Kevin Lyons in the lead, but the pack still all together.
1200m: 3:35 - Austin Joiner, Kevin Lyons, and JP Cook are all tight together.
1400m: The top three have separated themselves from the pack a little.
1600m: 4:49 - Kevin Lyons has taken the lead, JP Cook in second, Joiner in third. Tim McLeod is about 20m back of the leaders in fourth, with another 20m gap from McLeod to the fifth man.
2000m: 6:06 - 3-pack up front, Austin Joiner retakes the lead. Lyons in second, JP Cook in third.
2100m: Austin asserts himself as the leader a little bit and starts to pick up the pace. JP hangs on in third but looks uncomfortable there. He looks as if he is itching to move up but is trying to convince himself to be patient.
2200m: JP comes around the outside and so does Kevin Lyons, all battling for position.
2400m: 7:07 - Kevin Lyons retakes the lead. JP is in second and looks ansy like he wants to take over the lead here, but settles in at second for now.
2500m: 7:20 - Top three switch off positions a few times, McLeod in 7:30.
2600m: Lyons takes over the lead again (it has been changing often lately), JP is now in second right on Kevin's heels, and Austin in third about five steps back. Coming around the corner, JP moves along the outside of Kevin... looks like he wants the lead, but Kevin is not ready to surrender it.
2800m: 8:38 - JP Cook has taken the lead just before the gun lap over Kevin Lyons. And JP really starts to kick and quickly opens up a 10m lead on Kevin Lyons. Austin Joiner is hanging on for dear life to third place and digs deep for a kick and begins to close the gap to Lyons.
3000m: 9:11 - JP is really kicking hard and opens a sizeable lead.
3100m: Austin Joiner is showing that he has a little spunk left in him and Kevin feels the hot breath of pursuit on his neck from the freshman. There is no catching JP at this point.
3200m: 9:42 - JP crosses for the victory. Lyons is able to fight off Joiner's chase for second place in 9:46, Joiner 9:47. Tim finishes just over the elite mark at 10:04.
