Junior Varsity Races
There is no seeding for teams in these races. We have JV Blue on Friday and JV White on Saturday. Each varsity team can decide in which one they want to run their athletes. For the most part, teams will run their JV the same day as they run their varsity... so it's self-determining. But it's their option. Regardless we don't list them out or specifically need to know. The JV race is started like a road race with no specific boxes enforced due to having more teams than boxes.
Still have questions? Frequently Asked Questions
What is our box assignment?
There is no box assignment. We will have at least 35 boxes drawn, but we do not assign them. First come, first serve. Unattached individuals should share the extra boxes.
Middle school race will not start at the same starting line, so will have less boxes but it will work out.
JV races are run like a road race with no boxes enforced.
How many are allowed in varsity races?
Up to ten runners. Use your discretion.
How many are allowed in college/open, middle school, and JV races?
Unlimited.... as long as you registered them and they have a chip.
Can we trade chips for other runners?
We know it happens, but please don't... you'll throw off the stats. I hope you entered all of your athletes. If you must AND we have the time then let us know and we can fix it in the computer so that the results are right and parents don't yell at me later as to why their kid's time is under another runner!
What if some runners aren't running?
Please turn those chips right back in so that they are not lost.
Is there a coaches meeting?
Yes, it's on the
schedule. It will be held at the start line.
Do I have to be there?
If you want to meet the meet administration, hear what we have to say, and ask us questions... then yes. If not then no.
When can I pick up my packet?
Obviously make sure you get it well before your team's first race starts. We'll be ready about 2:00PM on Friday through 7:00PM that evening. And if my alarm goes off on time then we'll be back set up around 6:00AM on Saturday through 10:00AM or so.
Do individuals have packets?
If your coach register you then yes.. under your team name. If you or your parent registered you then then no, you'll just have your bib # and chip.
What about the entry fee? Can I bring it or should I mail it or pay online?
If you can get it in the mail on Monday... do it. If you can pay online by Wednesday... do it. That will make things a lot more smooth and quick with the packet pickup process if most of you have paid. If you absolutely can't then fine bring it. But no pay, no run. So you MUST have it or you will not get your chips.
Can I get a receipt?
When you pay you are emailed a receipt automatically as soon as I process it.
Will the meet be streamed online?
Yes. We will post details.
Will Nike be there again?
Yep! And they've got some awesome stuff planned. I will post another article this week about the cool stuff going on.
Can I get a course map or a schedule or a meet program or a... whatever?
I will be making up meet programs like I do every year that will be distributed online for free for you to print yourself. I will have ONE in each team packet. Course maps and schedule is already online... but it will also all be consolidated in that program.
How much is parking?
It is $5 per day... no two-day discount, sorry. The parking crew will be instructed to charge all vehicles except buses and officially marked school vans. There is three entrances... BCC South, BCC North, and Chain of Lakes Park. We have overflow parking available in another lot across US-1 just in case also. We have police there and traffic and crossing guards on US-1.
Meet staff and journalists should get a parking pass.
Handicap and staff parking is available that is close to the course in the lot behind the BCC Student Union and in a grass lot behind the finish. Security staff will enforce this to authorized folks only.
How much is admission?
There is no additional admission fee.
What kind of chip system are you using?
Last year we used ChampionChip/MyLaps that went nuts for us and just didn't work and we had to scramble and do everything by hand. I pray to God that that never happens to me again. This year we are using Elite Timing and their new IPICO chip system... which is a chip system that we have used successfully in the past (two years ago).
Make sure that you have chips FIRMLY attached to the shoe (so they don't fall off) and they should be flat against the shoe. We will provide demonstrations at the coaches meeting.
Where will the awards be?
On the big stage.
Where do we get our packets?
I'll publish a layout map... but next to the stage on one side will be the huge Nike tent. On the other will be our meet headquarters tent with packet pickup.
