Gainesville Buchholz senior Chris Godwin decided to leave his hometown when he picked Florida State over offers from UF, and USF. Godwin capped off his cross country career with a second place finish at the 4A meet and an 11th place finish at the Foot Locker South regional. After one of the runners could not make it to San Diego for Foot Locker Nationals Godwin received a phone call to compete in the prestigious race. He was the only Sunshine State athlete to compete in nationals where he finished 39th.
He joins Max del Monte of Chamberlain as the only distance runners from Florida to commit to Florida State thus far. High jumper Brandon Stone, sprinter Marvin Bracy, and long jumper Der'Renae Freeman will run track and field for the Seminoles during the indoor and outdoor campaign.
