Chiles Star Carly Thomas Commits To Florida State

Chiles standout Carly Thomas has chosen her college destination. The 2009 3A Cross Country State Championship will stay in Tallahassee and run for Florida State. In the end she chose the Seminoles over Mississippi State. She says it was her bond with Coach Karen Harvey and current FSU runners that sealed the deal.

"Coach Harvey has shown she can develop runners to their fullest potential. I also really enjoyed the girls and how dedicated they are to the program's success."

In addition to her individual state championship Thomas was also a member of a Chiles'  cross country squad that won three consecutive state championships from 2008-2010 and finished second in 2011. She was also the seventh Florida runner to cross the like at the Foot Locker South Regional. Her 30th place finish was an integral part in the Sunshine State ladies team victory over Virginia.

On the track Carly has made it to the state finals in the 1600 and 3200 every year. She has finished in the top six in the 3200 and placed fourth at least year'sFHSAA 3A Outdoor State Finals. She says she is excited to be the newest addition to one of the top distance programs in the nation.

"I want to be a contributing part of a championship program and reach my full potential as a runner and person."
