Great Night for American Heritage Ladies

One of the most talented group of sprinters and hurdles the state has seen in years, the ladies of American Heritage put a nice exclaimation to their season by winning the NBN Championship in the 4x400 to end an already successful day in the individual events. The team beat out Wakefield NC and Garden City NY with a 3:45.18; not even their best on the year.

Indivudal results for American Heritage Plantation:

  • Diamond Spaulding with maybe her biggest jewel yet... 2nd place in the Championship 200 with a slightly windy 24.04, coming after a 24.27 in the prelims.
  • Daesha Rogers - 6th in the Championship 800 in 2:09.89.
  • Khadeeja Dooling - 14th in the Champinonship 400H in 1:02.89, #3 in the state.
  • Rachelle Alexander - 15th in the Emerging Elite 800 in 2:15.73.
  • Deja Parrish - 15th in the Championship 400 in 56.36.

Arroyo, Teixeira Battle in Championship 800

The much awaited face-off of Andres Arroyo and Otniel Teixeira in the 800 finally went down. Arroyo came out the victor between the two, finishing in 6th place with a 1:51.17 in a very deep field to Otniel's 8th Place 1:51.77.

Kendall Ellis 5th in Championship 400

St. Thomas Aquinas sophomore Kendall Ellis placed fifth in the Championship Division's fast heat with a 55.15.

Teahna Daniels, Erin Ford Go 1-2 Emerging Elite 200

Nice showing of a wind legal 24.28 got Teahna Daniels first place, beating out fellow Floridian Erin Ford's 24.45. The 1-2 order was reversed in the prelims... the two were in the same heat and went 24.40 and 24.42.

Cameron 4th in Shot, After Third in Discus on Friday

It was a good couple of throwing days for sophomore Lloydricia Cameron, who took fourth place in the shot put with a 42-4.25 just a day earlier she took bronze in the discus with a 140-11 effort. Definitely one of the best balanced throwers in Florida.

  • Jeremiah Green - Took 7th in the Championship Long Jump with a 23-0.75 a day after his big Championship Triple Jump.

  • Jazzmine Folston - 9th place, EE 200 Prelims 24.91. Folston also earned 10th in the EE Long Jump with 16-10.

Green Wins Championship TJ

Boys Champinoship Triple Jump: Jeremiah Green wins the Championship Triple Jump with a wind legal US #2 (all conditions #5) 50-10.25, which is a great new PR for him. The junior crossed the 50-foot mark three out of five attempts!

Ford, Hani Go 2nd-3rd in Emerging Elite 400

Florida pulled in two EE medals with Erin Ford and Abby Hani finishing 2-3 with times of 56.73 and 56.80, respectively. Tatianna Etienne finished a strong 17th place showing in 57.84, with Tricia Davis (1:00.59) and A'Sja Baker (1:02.22) also ringing in.

Cameron Takes Bronze in Championship Discus

Miami Northwestern's Lloydricia Cameron, just a sophomore, too third place in the championship division of the discus throw with a 140-11.

Hill, Daniels Finish 5th and 8th in Championship 100 Finals

After qualifying as the second seed with a heat-winning 11.80 in the prelims, Deanna Hill came through in 11.89 in the finals for 5th place. Teahana Daniels also made the top 8 for the finals with a 12.01 and came back for a 12.05 and 8th place in the finals.  (Video Interview with The Two... Future Teammates?)

 

Week after Mile State Record, Lily Williams 9th; Anne-Marie Blaney day after nice 5K is 10th

Lily Williams of Chiles last week set the all-time Florida state high school record at the Dream Mile with a 4:42 showing. Six days later she is back in action here with a 10:28.74 for ninth place in the Two Mile. Just a blink behind her in 10th place is Anne-Marie Blaney of Belleview with a 10:29.03, which is made all the more impressive since it comes less than 24 hours after her sixth place 16:59 5K on Thursday night.

Other Performances:

  • Champinoship Heptathlon: Brittany McGee finished up the two day event with 4235 points for 9th place. As expected, she did very well in the long jump with a second place 17-8, but struggled at 800 meters and the jav. Great showing though in the very difficult combined event!
  • EE Girls High Jump: Allison Lampert of Spruce Creek ties for 6th in 5-2.5. Tiah Sanborn is 17th in 5-0.5.
  • EE Girls Triple Jump: Sophomore Markeria Brown gets tenth place in 36-7.5.
  • EE Boys Triple Jump: Jethro St. Hubert, 9th place 44-8.75.
  • Girls Championship Triple Jump: Elesha Alyn, 19th place 38-2.75
  • EE Boys 110 Hurdles: Terry McMillon - 18th place 15.22.
  • EE Girls 100 Hurdles: Ryann McEnany - 22nd place 15.14; Megan Tse 39th place 16.15.
  • EE Boys 400 Dash: Davaris Osbourne - 10th place 49.50; Jordan Thompson - 16th place 50.04.; Jean Poulard 26th place 50.74.
  • EE Girls 100 Dash: Jazzmine Folston nabbed the last qualifying slot for the finals with an 8th place 12.18. She came back in the finals and ran just about the same time with a 12.19 to finish in 6th. Erin Ford and Markeria Brown ran 13-14 place in 12.37, each.
  • EE Boys 100 Prelims: Iguens Aristil 30th place 11.34.
  • Championship Girls 100 Hurdles: Elesha Alyn 19th place 15.02.
  • EE Boys 110 Hurdles: William Taylor-Haynes 10th place 14.51.
  • Championship Boys 110 Hurdles: Chrisopher Grinley finished in 6th place with a time of 14.30.

Florida Highlights - Thursday

Blaney 5th Place in Championship Girls 5000

Anne-Marie Blaney (Belleview) ran a 16:59.22 for fifth place, behind the 16:18.16 winning time of Ashley Ebra of Indiana (who broke Ashley Brasovan's meet record in the process). Bryce Seymour (Circle Christian) and Carly Thomas (Chiles) also ran solid times in the fast section in 17:41.15 and 18:20.96, respectively.

 

Other Florida Performances:

  • Championship Boys 5000: Ben McMahon of Leon placed 30th in 15:40.75.
  • Girls Heptathlon: Admiral Farragut freshman Brittany McGee had a solid opening day in the Girls Championship Hep. She finished up day one in sixth place with 2773 points. No surprise, her strongest event was the 100 Hurdles where she rang in at 15.26 and 808 points. She should be able to put up a nice long jump to keep her in it, but the Jav wil be her biggest challenge.
  • EE Girls Pole Vault: Amanda Gayle (Calvary Christian) 12th place 10-11 (3.33m)
  • Freshman Boys 400 Dash: Rasheed Tatham (St. Thomas Aquinas) nabs second place with a time of 50.01.
  • Freshman Boys 2 Mile Run: Sukhi Khosla of Leon finished in fourth place 9:49.71. (Video Interview)
