Pineiro, Murray, Finish First At Five Star, FPC Cleans Up Team Trophies

In the boys varsity race it was a head to head fight for first place between Deland's Keneth Pineiro and Flagler Palm Coast senior Thomas Carroll. The two battled it out for 2.75 miles untiln Carroll couldn't hang on anymore. Pineiro left his mark with about 600 meters to go to get the win in 16:03.40. Carroll was second in 16:07.86 with teammate Brad Walbert coming in third at 16:52.07. FPC placed all five runners in the top seven to win with 26 points and a team average of 17:02.59. Deland was second (72 points) and Spruce Creek third (84 points).

The girls varsity race played out much like the boys. Seabreeze freshman Elizabeth Murray and Orange City junior Christen Daniels ran stride for stride for a majority of the race. Elizabeth pulled Christen along and she hung with her for the first 2.25 miles. Murray kicked it into high gear the final 3/4 of a mile to win in 20:10.44. Daniels crossed the line second in 20:15.84. Murray's Seabreeze teammate Josie Gray was second in 20:26.59. FPC led by Paige Way's fourth place finish won with 48 points. Spruce Creek was second (71 points) and New Smyrna Beach third (84 points).

Brandon Marris competed in his first and only race of the season winning the boys junior varsity race easily in 17:54.05. FPC picked up another team title tallying 24 points and placing all seven runners in the top ten. Spruce Creek was second (50 points) and Seabreeze was third (87 points).  

The girls junior varsity race was the only one not dominated by FPC. Spruce Creek flew away with this race as they had the top four runners led by individual champion Casey Erhardt. The Hawks had a near perfect score of 17 points followed by Deland (50) and New Smyrna Beach (77).
