Boys 3A Individuals
Kurt Able (Wesley Chapel)- The rising senior placed 20th at last years class 2A State Finals (16:37). Kurt also had a solid track season where he lowered both personal bests in the 1,600 (4:29) and 3,200 (9:56). Able has been working hard this summer and will be a threat to all runners around the state, not just in 3A and that showed at the USF Twilight 5k where he PR'd with a 15:55.Bryan Anderson (Flagler Palm Coast)- Bryan is coming off of a solid cross country season. He peaked perfectly for the championship races and I expect him to do the same this fall. Anderson placed 9th with a time of 16:18 in Tampa last season.
James Coleman (Wolfson)- The Wolfson junior placed 16th last year in Tampa (16:30). Coleman also ran Footlocker South and tied his personal best.
Justin Davis (Wolfson)- Justin placed 10th last fall at State with his personal best (16:21). Davis also performed well at Footlocker South placing 17th in the sophomore race with a time of 16:37. The Wolfson junior should be a threat to most runners in 3A. Also a probable top 3 at State.
David Forry (Wesley Chapel)- David Forry was amazing last fall. The Wesley Chapel junior dropped time almost every race. Forry placed 17th at last years 2A State Meet with a time of 16:35. He should add to the competitivness in 3A this year. David wasn't around much this spring. Sources say he had a bit of an injury.
Blake Hutchinson(Fort Walton Beach)- Blake raced to a 12th place finish at last years State Meet (16:26). Hutchinson stayed rather consistant where he was running in the mid 16's all season long. During the spring, Blake dipped under 10:00 for the first time at the Mobile Meet of Champions (9:57). Jeff Masterson (Mitchell)- Jeff is the #1 returner in 3A. He closed out his season with a 3rd place finish in Tampa (16:02) and placed 28th at Footlocker South with a time of 15:39. The upcoming junior is also coming off of a tremendous track season. Jeff laid low most of the season until he had a breakthrough race at State where he placed 3rd in the 3,200 with a personal best, 9:18.
Alex Miletich (Chiles)- With Chiles moving up to 3A, Alex moves up a few spots. Miletich had an enormous track season where he won the Florida Relays 2 mile (9:26) and took home two silver medals from the State meet in the 1,600 (4:17) and 3,200 (9:24). If anyone is going to push Jeff Masterson, it will definitely be Mr. Miletich. Oh, and watch out for his kick!
Stephen Smith (Chiles)- Smith had an excellent sophomore cross country season where he peaked perfectly for the championship races. Stephen placed 15th in the 2A State meet with a time of 16:30. He then made the trek up to NC where competed in Footlocker South and PR'd by 21 seconds (16:09). The T'Wolves junior also had an excellent track season; placing 2nd in the 800 (1:53) and ran a personal best in the 1,600 at the Seminole Invite (4:25). Expect Stephan to make a huge impact on 3A this fall.
Lief Thomason (Satellite)- Lief had a great 2002 cross country season. The Satellite senior raced to a 16:18 at the so-called short course at the University of Florida for a personal best. Thomason placed 17th at last years State Meet with a time of 16:31. Lief also broke the 10:00 barrier at the Bob Hayes Invitational (9:52). He will definitely be a top 10 canidate for this upcoming cross country season.
