4th Annual DDD SOMMER INVITATIONAL 2016

The Estero 3D Invitational was renamed the 3D Sommer Invitational in 2016 in honor of Coach Sommer who passed away last year. Sommer was never one to let his kids take the easy way out, pushing them to their limits. He was probably laughing from upstairs as the already challenging Estero Park Course was covered in mud and water, making it even more difficult. Bill Lenahan was one of two photographers on-site for flrunners.com and has 1,100+ photos of all the action!

Watch Belen Jesuit's Joshua Collins defend his title at the 3D Sommer Invitational. Collins clocked a time of 17:05 on one of the hardest courses in the state, Estero Community Park, in rain soaked conditions.

If there was any doubt whether Pine Crest freshman Tsion Yared would be healthy for the 2016 season, let that doubt now be put to rest. Yared beat the field at the 3D Sommer Invitational by nearly half a minute to win in 20:26.00 on a rain soaked and well known difficult Estero Community Park course.
