11 Varsity Schools
7 Middle Schools
New Meet Record Boys: Kyle Carufe CSN 16:12
New Meet Record Girls: Vivian Grimes CSN 19:14
Victoria McCaffrey (19:31) equals SJN School record (Nichole Grothaus 2001)
The great competition along with slightly cooler temperatures and overcast skies carried the runners to some very quick
times on this traditionally fast course. Many of the area 1A athletes are rounding into top form entering
district week. In the girls race, Vivian Grimes and Kathryn Fluehr led from the beginning and pulled away
to a strong 1-2 finish. Victoria McCaffrey of Neumann closed fast to finish 3rd and equal the SJN school record.
The #2 State-ranked Community School girls won the team battle even without the aid of
the Burfield twins who had competed the day before in the Regional Swimming Championships.
Kyle Carufe pulled away from a pack of four at the 1 mile mark to defend his title in the boys race.
The host school's Taylor Peliska was the only runner able to stay close to Carufe finishing in second place with a big
personal record. Stefon Naiper of Ft. Lauderdale Upperroom Christian finished 3rd.
Community School also won the team championship on the boys side.
