Day one of the Sam Burley HOF Invitational ended with a bang as the Piper and Miami Northwestern boys 4x800m relay teams battled to US#1 and US#2 times of 7:51.01 and 7:54.20 respectively.
8th grader Jinah Mickens Malik of Mater Academy lead off the 4x800m relay with an unofficial leg of 2:13 or 2:14 followed by teammate Valerie Lastra who owns a sub 5:00 mark in the 1,600. The team crossed the line in a new US#1 mark of 9:27.36 to win the Sam Burley Invitational.
