Welcome to our 1st annual Tampa Bay Tech Lakebed CC Invite! TBT's campus was built over a lake bed in Tampa's East-Lake Orient Park in the late 1960s.
Registration is now closed. See you on Saturday! Please bring entry donation directly to the meet if you have not already sent a check through the mail.
Our inaugural cross country course features 2.5 loops around TBT's campus, starting and ending in the Titan stadium complex. The course was changed due to construction of a new retention pond in the northeastern portion of TBT's campus at Orient Rd. and Sligh Ave. Runners start from the south end of the Titan Stadium football field and run out the gates to the northwest and around a field with the red starter loop counter-clockwise through the baseball field. They then turn left to run the orange main loop twice, clockwise. On the 3rd pass of the orange loop, runners follow white flags, turn left, go around the practice football field and then back to the finish around the track in the stadium. Runners finish on the north side of the stadium football field for the full 5km. The course features sandy grass, weaving through our Titan sports complex and fields, a couple of parking lots, and around some retention ponds (remnants of the lake bed). The course is mostly flat with a couple of tiny hills across 2/3 groomed grass and 1/3 pavement, making for a fairly fast run with mostly even-footing and a few tighter turns. See below / attached for our final course map including team camp, parking, and bathroom access information.* An ArcGIS webmap of the course is also is available here: https://arcg.is/1fGeam .
Varsity and JV Race Designations and Time Cutoffs
Please assign your runners to the proper race categories (Varsity or JV, Boys / Girls). If your athletes can not run under 40 minutes (for girls) or 35 minutes (for boys), please enter them into the combined JV race. There is a bottle-neck at a gate near the start / finish that requires us to complete each race before starting the next one. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Timing, Registration, and Awards
The meet will be chip-timed with individual bibs by TRC Race Management with only Varsity Girls / Boys teams scored. Top 12 individual boys and girls overall for Varsity and top 10 individuals among boys / girls JV races (by gun time) will be given custom medals. Team trophies will be awarded to the overall Girls / Boys Varsity team winners.
Registration is limited to 12 teams (including both genders) with 8 individual entries allowed for each varsity race and unlimited entries for the JV girls / boys combined race. Individual high school athletes who are unattached also are eligible to register.
