Last year, Williams had a poor start and showing in the 100-meter dash (7th, 10.95) despite coming in as one of the top qualifiers from regionals with a 10.40 clocking and only won the state title in the 200-meter dash (21.40) after a disqualification to the actual race winner Zak Sedaros for stepping on a lane line into the turn. Race Video: Boys 200 Finals at Bob Hayes Invitational (Contributed by Kevar Williams)This year's state meet will have special meaning not only being his senior year and final one, but the venue will be at the University of Florida, which is the future home that he will be running for the Gators and Coach Mike Holloway next year. His upcoming meet schedule includes a trip to Gainesville for the Florida Relays at month's end and the return of high school events after a two-year hiatus due to covid restrictions. Competing this past weekend at the Bob Hayes Invitational, which historically has been a great cross-regional collection of top sprinting talent from various parts of the state, Williams showed his dominance as arguably Florida's fastest high school sprinter currently defeating top competitors in the finals of the 100 and 200-meter dash from both South Florida and the Jacksonville area.Both races were decisive victories for Williams winning by a full tenth of a second in the 100-meter dash over Traunard Folson (10.47) of Andrew Jackson and nearly full two tenths in the 200-meter dash over Christian Miller of Creekside (21.07) with minimal wind readings to make both times well under wind-legal.Official Results from Bob Hayes InvitationalBoys 100m Finals Boys 200m Finals
