Both the Mandarin boys and Winter Park girls escaped the region of death (4A Region 1). The Mustangs accomplished the feat with a team average of 16:41.69 while the defending state champion Wildcats were guided with individual champion Rafaella Gibbons who set a new state leading time of 17:27.15 giving the team an average of 18:51.44.
