Meet Summary

The boys race was lead by a a pair of runners from Sarasota High School. Senior Courtland Bernard and sophomore Zach Summerall ran together for a majority of the race before Bernard pull away for the victory in a time of 16:29. Summerall came in six seconds later in 16:35. Land O' Lakes with the home course advantange placed two runners in the top five with Tyler Stahl finishing third and Travis Nichols in fifth. Sarasota won the meet with a meager 32 points . Land O' Lakes was second (78 points) and Wiregrass Ranch was third (95 points).

On the girls side, it was a Blaney picking up the big win, and not Anne-Marie. Anne-Marie has moved onto UCF leaving sister Catherine to make some noise at Belleview High School. Catherine won the race in 19:47 which was ten second faster than runner-up Angelina Grebe. Palm Harbor University High School coming up from Pinellas County got the team win (104 pts.) after placing four of their top five in the top 24. The Hurricanes were lead by Brianna Paczynski who finished 10th in 20:38. Sarasota (120 pts.) was second and Newsome (136 pts.) was third. The battle for the next four spots was something to see. Largo finished fourth with 155 points, while Belleview, Lecanto, and Freedom (Tampa), finished in that order after compiling an identical 156 point total! That just goes to show you every point counts.

In the junior varsity races, junior Brian Kerry of Sarasota won the boys race in 18:32. Host Land O'Lakes placed three runners in the top eight to win the team championship. On the girls side, Amanda Miller and Delsie Borgen provided a strong 1-2 punch as Newsome won the team title with 20 points.
