The top two runners from the 400m meet again in the 4x400m relay finals at Flo Golden South!
American Heritage sophomore Anthony Schwartz tore a ligament in his finger and opted out of Flo Golden South, but instead of running the profile meet in Clermont, the 2A 100 and 200 meter state champion headed north to Atlanta for the 10th Annual Mark Trail Flying Eagles Memorial Day Invitational at West Lake High School. Schwartz won the 100m dash in 10.72 and followed that up with a time of 21.43 and called the meet a get back meet.

The most exciting non Brooks PR qualifying race could be the boys 110m hurdles. We profile American Heritage senior McKinly Brown who owns the most state titles in the field, but might just be the most overshadowed. Brown will also compete in his favorite event the 400m hurdles and has more experience than his competition with the 4th fastest time in the country to his credit.

Haines City junior Amuru Patterson opened up eyes all season when she ran 11.57w at the Pre-State and followed that up with wind legal times of 11.63 and 11.64 at district and regionals and 23.85 in the 200 at the same regional meet. Patterson went onto win her first two state titles, capturing gold in the 100 and 200m dash for class 4A. Tamari Davis is only a 7th grader, but Saturday she will line up next to girls four and five years older at Flo Golden South. Davis isn't threatened though, feeling as if she belongs right next to them, and says she's been working hard to run at this meet where she failed to qualify for the finals last year running 12s.
