JB: How did you feel out there today?
BC: It was pretty good. I felt great, but overall I felt like I could do better.
JB: How fast did you go out?
BC: I went out pretty good, helping my teammate pull, he was just right behind me—5:08 first mile. It was a pretty good pace; he said he could handle it. And that's all my job was, just go go with him the first mile.
JB: And then you took off from there?
BC: I took off from there, still kind of slow; I slowed down just a little, because no one was next to me. But it's only the first race.
JB: Who was that next to you? One of the area coaches?
BC: Yeah the coach came in first, the bald headed dude. He pushed me just a little bit. And the Flagler Palm Coast--I guess that was him--dude was in second: that new guy. I heard about him, but I never knew what he was like. But I guess that was him.
JB: You pretty excited about the season? You think you got a good shot at the state title?
BC: Actually yes, I know I do! Because I haven't been doing that many workouts yet. This is just my base. The first meet is always the slowest—I'm going under 16 for sure.
JB: With you looking good up top, how is the rest of your team?
BC: Oh, we got a great team! Top ten we don't even know who they are yet because everyone is just going under 19 minutes. We have a 1-2 for sure, and everyone else is fighting. Great team!
JB: Any personal goals? Just to go under 16?
BC: Personal goal is going under 15:30, for sure.
